The post-Thanksgiving slump is real. It's easy to fall off track with prioritizing your health after a big Thanksgiving meal.
News 12 stopped by Fitt 4 Life in Throgs Neck, where trainer and co-owner, John Ievoli, shared advice on how you can burn off the bird and resume your routine after the feast.
"One of the biggest things you could do is just get up and go for a walk. It doesn't have to be super hard and not super intense, just about getting moving and getting the body kind of back after eating all the food you ate yesterday," said Ievoli.
While many people love to indulge in leftovers after the holiday, Ievoli says you should actually skip seconds.
"On the actual day, eat whatever you like. If you're a one slice of cheesecake person, don't use Thanksgiving as a reason to have two or three, but give yourself that reward and then stop it at the end of Thanksgiving. One of the biggest problems that people do, they carry over to the next two or three or four days and that cheat meal now turns into a cheat week. That's what does that, the devastating effects to your diet," said Ievoli.
