The Mid-Hudson region is set to enter Phase 3 of reopening next week, but one Bronxville business is choosing to remain closed until July.
Like many small businesses, the pandemic became a nightmare for Stephanie Filardi and Peter Iocovello as their business - Bronxille Wellness Sanctuary - closed for COVID-19.
"Because we're such a hands-on business, it's changed everything," says Iocovello.
Next week many services open under Phase 3, including many offered at Bronxville Wellness Sanctuary. But many of their services are also still banned under Phase 3, like facials and yoga, forcing the business owners to make the tough decision to wait even longer.
"We're not able to offer facials, so opening up with half of a business before a holiday ... we felt let's give everyone the time and space to enjoy this extra time. And hopefully by the time we open, we'll be able to offer the facial aspect of our business," says Filardi
When they reopen July 8, changes include staff wearing PPE and face masks, sanitizing rooms between sessions, screening customers for COVID-19 and temperature checks.
"We can't be as hospitable as we were. We can't offer people water, we can't offer people snacks, our waiting area won't be accessible for people," says Iocovello
While the Bronxville Wellness Sanctuary is not physically opening until July, it is offering many of its services virtually. Some of the things that can be enjoyed from the comfort of home include meditation, energy healing, stretching and breathing classes, and yoga.
