Attention Shoppers: Wegmans says customer personal information may have been compromised
Attention Shoppers - your personal information may have been compromised.
Wegmans says customer names, addresses, phone numbers, birth dates, email addresses and more were left vulnerable to outside access. It says Social Security numbers were not impacted.
Company officials say two of its cloud databases were inadvertently left open due to a configuration issue.
The issue is resolved, and all affected information is now secure. Wegmans says it first learned of the problem on or around April 19, 2021. The configuration issue began in 2018.
Wegmans says it already reached out to shoppers who may have been affected by the issue.
Wegmans Food Markets, Inc. is a 106-store supermarket chain with stores in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Maryland, Massachusetts and North Carolina.
