A fire ripped through an apartment complex in Newburgh on Thursday, leaving 20 people displaced.
Dozens of firefighters from multiple departments arrived at the Belvedere Apartments on Lake Drive to extinguish the flames.
Fire officials say there were heavy flames that spread throughout the entire roof of the complex.
Residents tell News 12 they began knocking on doors when the fire started, trying to get everyone out of the building safely.
The fire is said to be caused by a lightbulb that exploded in one of the apartments.
News 12 is told that the complex may have a couple of vacant apartments in which two of the six displaced families can be housed.
The other families are looking for accommodations from friends or family. Those who cannot find shelter will be looked after by the American Red Cross.
There was some concern about pets that may not have made it out of the building safely, but according to the Red Cross, all dogs and cats have been accounted for.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
