Two families are homeless after a fire at an Orange County condominium complex.
Fire officials say the blaze started around 6:30 a.m. in a second-floor unit on Concord Lane in Middletown.
Residents there say they awoke to heavy smoke and flames. "I smelled smoke. I have a baby so I just got up and I saw all these flashing lights and I came outside and this place was on fire with smoke rolling out,” says resident Anolta Matthews.
The fire gutted one unit, and another unit is condemned from water damage. Firefighters were able to stop the flames from spreading to more units.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
