Power has been restored to tens of thousands of people in the Hudson Valley after a transformer fire.
The fire sparked after a transformer blew in Carmel, cutting power to more than 60,000 homes Thursday night. The outages were spread throughout Putnam, northern Westchester and southern Dutchess counties.
By 11 a.m. Friday, all but a handful of customers had their electricity back.
NYSEG says the fire was likely caused by equipment failure, but the cause remains under investigation.
