A Suffern man has been arrested for allegedly beating up his girlfriend.

Police say it happened Saturday morning at a home on West Maple Avenue.

They say the 56-year-old man sat on his girlfriend, choked her and then punched her in the face.

The suspect, who has yet to be identified, was charged with assault and felony strangulation.
