Gov. Kathy Hochul honored the lives of the 55 police officers who sacrificed their lives in service to their communities.

Fallen Yonkers Detective Sgt. Frank Gualdino was one of the 55 officers honored. He was driving his police car in uniform when he was struck head-on by another vehicle in December.

State landmarks are illuminated in blue to honor police officers sacrifices.

The governor also issued a proclamation declaring May 9 as Police Memorial Day.
