Police say they removed some 350 marijuana plants worth $200,000 from a remote wooded area west of Putnam Valley Elementary School Friday.
Investigators say the terrain was so difficult to access that ATVs had to be brought in to haul away most of the plants, which were as tall as 6 feet and nearly ready for harvest. The rest were removed by a helicopter.
Last Tuesday, Westchester County's police aviation unit spotted nearly 300 cultivated plants growing along the Cross County Parkway in Yonkers. So far, no arrests have been made.
