Police arrest 3 in Yonkers shooting, beating
Police say a Bronx teen was shot in the leg and another man was beaten with a belt buckle early Monday morning in Yonkers.
Yonkers police have arrested three teens for the shooting and beating, which occurred after 2 a.m. near South Broadway. They say as many as a dozen people may be responsible for the incident. According to Jim Bostic, of the Yonkers Anti-Gang and Violence Coalition, Monday?s attacks are the latest in a rash of violence plaguing Yonkers.
Bostic, along with families from Yonkers and Mount Vernon, plans to hold a plea for peace in the two troubled cities during a press conference at the Riverfront Library on Wednesday, Feb. 18.
Yonkers detectives believe the incidents may be gang-related.
"We are gong to make an impassioned plea to those involved in that lifestyle and people that may not want to be involved ... that help is available," Bostic says.
