The Pelham Manor Police Department is saying goodbye to a longtime leader and friend.

Police Chief Jeff Carpenter has announced his retirement.

Carpenter has been with the force since 1998 and chief of the department since 2015.

The department will now be turned over to Lt. Thomas Atkins.
