Residents of Newburgh are advocating for rent control, expressing concerns about being priced out of their apartments.

The city is conducting a rental-vacancy study. If it finds a vacancy rate of less than 5%, the state may allow the formation of a board with the authority to control or freeze rents to prevent displacement.
