Rates for New York Gas and Electric services are set to increase, though not as significantly as the companies had initially proposed.

The New York State Public Service Commission unanimously approved a three-year rate plan, reducing NYSEG's electric and gas rate request by nearly 50%.

This decision will slash the initial request by almost $231 million. Officials have pledged to continue investigating billing complaints.
