MTA: Rider numbers best since pandemic began with over 5 million commuters

The MTA has announced public transportation
ridership is back with its best numbers since the pandemic began.
Prior to the pandemic,
average weekday ridership across NYCT Subway, Metro-North and LIRR exceeded 5.5 million.
That number fell by 95% to a
low of roughly 300,000 daily trips in April 2020 as the number of COVID-19
cases peaked in the New York City area.
Now, the total is regularly
surpassing five million weekly riders and subways have seen a consecutive three
days with over 3.1 million riders.
