The Mount Vernon Fire Department now has its first Hispanic deputy fire chief

           

Juan Peralta just received the promotion to the position.

           

He's been a dedicated member of the department since 2004.

           

During his time, he has become a certified EMT, arson investigator, and level two fire instructor.

           

He was promoted to fire lieutenant in 2013, and then to fire captain in 2017.
