New York Gov. David Paterson (D-N.Y.) has been diagnosedwith acute glaucoma in his left eye and is undergoing an outpatientlaser procedure. Paterson's office said in a statement Tuesday that the procedure"will not have any long-term impact on the governor's overallhealth." It says Paterson will remain conscious during the procedure. But"in an abundance of caution, the Senate majority leader and theAssembly speaker were advised." Paterson admitted himself to Manhattan's Mount Sinai MedicalCenter earlier Tuesday after experiencing "migraine-likesymptoms."
