An elderly driver is recuperating today after slamming his car into a building in Mount Vernon.

The vehicle went through an iron fence before hitting a brick building at the Vernon Woods Apartment Complex Thursday. A woman was sleeping in the apartment when the incident occurred.

Witnesses say the car lost control and came speeding down East Lincoln Avenue.

No one was seriously hurt. It's unclear precisely what caused the driver to lose control of the car.
