Barbie is honoring journalist, activist and suffragist Ida B. Wells with a new doll in the Inspiring Women series.

The series spotlights heroes who inspire people to dream big.

Wells was born into slavery. She told the stories of injustices that Black people faced in her lifetime.

The doll will be available at major retailers by Jan. 17.
