A 9-year-old boy got a chance to be a New Rochelle police commissioner for the day.
Tyler Carach, a home-schooled Florida boy, has been doling out doughnuts to officers in police departments around the country. It's earned him the nickname "Donut Boy," and he says because he is home-schooled, he can do it around the calendar.
Tuesday marked one full year since he began donating doughnuts to say thanks to police officers. It's also the day of New Rochelle's National Night Out event, which aims to boost ties between police and their community.
So far, he's handed out over 20,000 of them.
