A Florida judge says he will decide in two weeks whether a lawsuit filed by the Petito family against the parents of Brian Laundrie can proceed to a jury trial.
As News 12 has reported, Gabby Petito's family claim the family of their daughter's fiancée, Brian Laundrie, knew that their son killed Gabby and then tried to help him cover it up. They say the Laundries knew the location of Gabby Petito's remains and - in keeping quiet - acted with malice of indifference to their rights.
The Laundrie family says the claims are baseless and filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit
Gabby Petito's body was found in a Wyoming national park last summer.
Brian Laundrie's body was found in October in a Florida reserve with a notebook claiming he killed Gabby Petito. The FBI says he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
