A $26.3 million improvement project has begun on Route 9W in Orange County, aimed at enhancing safety and resiliency.

The project will upgrade drainage systems, repair stone walls, replace concrete barriers and resurface the road.

Gov. Kathy Hochul said the project exemplifies the "Build it Back Better" initiative, addressing persistent issues on this stretch of road.

The upgrades are expected to improve travel conditions and mitigate safety concerns.
