New Yorkers are getting a new area code for their phone numbers, according to Verizon.
The new "465" area code is coming to the 347, 718, 917, 929 area code regions in New York. New Yorkers who want new phone numbers may now be assigned the new "465" area code unless you live in Manhattan.
Service providers like Verizon say the existing area codes are "exhausted." If you have any of the old area codes, your number will not change.
The new area code rollout starts June 18.
