Seniors who live in a Yonkers apartment building say they are dealing with persistent flooding issues and claim repairs have gone unresolved for years.

Residents at 3 Curran Court contacted News 12 Monday to raise concerns about a leaking roof and flooded hallways inside the senior housing building.

Video captured by News 12 showed standing water in hallways and what residents described as patchwork repairs to the roof. Tenants say the problems have continued despite repeated complaints to management.

Many residents in the building rely on wheelchairs, walkers and other mobility devices, which make it difficult for them to navigate flooded hallways safely.

“It’s a pain in the neck, but I just deal with it,” said resident Richard Sayegh. “I put in a ticket to have it repaired and still hasn’t been done. In February I moved in and it was snowing and we noticed the water coming in. It always happens when there’s water on the roof.”

The Municipal Housing Authority for the City of Yonkers operates the building.

News 12 has reached out to building management and the housing authority for comment but had not heard back as of Monday evening.
