A Department of Education employee was charged with attempted assault on the job at a Brownsville school.

Officials say 41-year-old Demitrius Williams picked up a 10-year-old boy and dropped him on the floor inside the Christopher Avenue Community School.

There are three schools operating in the same building. It is not clear what exact position Williams held at the school.

Officials say the boy was bruised on his shoulder and hip and has a cut on his lip.

DOE said in a statement that Williams was immediately suspended and could be terminated.
