The price for a regular gallon of gas keeps going up, impacting consumers in New Jersey.

According to AAA, the average price per gallon in New Jersey is $4.02—up nine cents from Tuesday's price of $3.93—and just six cents below the national average of $4.06.

One truck driver told News 12 the cost to fill up his tank has doubled, from $150 to $300.

Tuesday was the first time the national price per gallon was above $4.00 since 2022.

"It's rough out here. A lot of people are just not bothering to fill up. This isn't the highest I've seen it, but it's the fastest I've seen it go up," gas station attendant Maynard Cooke said. "A couple of months ago, you could get seven gallons for twenty dollars. Now you can't even get five."
