Rikers Island inmate dies at Queens hospital

A Rikers Island inmate died Sunday morning at Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, according to officials.

The Department of Corrections says 49-year-old John Price was being held without bail for drug trafficking charges.

He was taken to the hospital in need of medical attention and later pronounced dead at 5:30 a.m.

His exact cause of death was not immediately clear.

He is the second Rikers Island inmate to die within the last four days.
