A local woman from Iran fears for the safety of her family as U.S. strikes continue in the Middle East.
The woman, who lives in Norwalk and wants to be identified only as Eleanor to protect her identity, says the violence in her country has been unspeakable.
Eleanor says in January, in less than two days, the regime massacred over 40,000 people because people started asking why the economy is so bad. She says a lot of women have been blinded by plastic bullets that the regime uses to target their faces.
Eleanor says her parents and husband are still in Iran. Her husband is still in the immigration process, and they have been apart for seven years. She says she cannot reliably call Iran because the regime is controlling the internet, so sometimes calls from her husband get dropped. She had mixed feelings about the attacks.
“I was relieved on one side. On the other side I was worried of course because my family are there. Innocent people get killed in war but the same innocent people themselves, they are happy and welcoming the bombs,” Eleanor said.
Eleanor says her brother is in a deportation camp in Turkey. He is a political activist who had to flee the persecution of the Islamic regime too.
