Rochester-based Wegmans is branching out with its first store in Connecticut.
Wegmans has 114 stores in nine states. News 12 Connecticut got a sneak peek inside the Norwalk store.
There are 92,000 square feet of shopping in the Wegmans experience with everything you can think of - different fruits and vegetables, and a wide variety of seafood, meat, bakery, deli, and cheese options.
Over 500 people will work at the store.
The planning for this store started three years ago.
"It's exciting. We've been hiring since last August, so to be two days away from the grand opening is just exciting, and our people are ready to show all of our future customers all the great food and stuff that we have here. So I think that's the biggest thing. We're just excited to be here," said Wegmans store manager Emily Gee.
Wegman's opens at 9 a.m. Wednesday. The store's regular hours will be 6 a.m. to midnight seven days a week.
