Before she was a household name on TV selling the Miracle Mop, Joy Mangano was a single mother on Long Island chasing a dream. Now, her remarkable rise is inspiring audiences on stage with "Joy: A True Musical."

Tony-nominated actress Betsy Wolfe, who stars as Mangano in the musical, said it's not all about a mop.

"It's about a woman who bet on herself," says Wolfe.

First debuting in New Jersey in 2022, "Joy" brings to life Mangano's journey, from everyday struggles to entrepreneurial successes.

"It's my story, but it's everybody's story," said Mangano.

The musical also features performances by Adam Grupper as Rudy, Mangano's father, Jill Abramovitz as Toots, her mother, and Honor Blue Silver as Christie, her daughter.

While it's sure to strike a chord or two with anyone, it's a story that hits close to home for local audiences.

"It'll be a little extra meaningful for anybody who comes in to see it from Long Island," just the way Mangano says she wants it to be.
