New Jersey extends ANCHOR tax filing deadline until after Thanksgiving

New Jersey residents who haven't applied for their ANCHOR property tax relief have an additional week to file for the funds. The state has extended the deadline from Nov. 30 to Dec. 6.
According to the state Division of Taxation, the extension is intended to give eligible taxpayers additional time to file their applications after Thanksgiving.
“With the busy holiday season upon us, we’ve extended the ANCHOR season to ensure all qualifying New Jerseyans are able to apply for this significant property tax relief,” State Treasurer Elizabeth Maher Muoio said. “We encourage homeowners and renters across New Jersey to check their eligibility and apply so that those who qualify do not miss out on this important benefit.”
So far this year, the state has distributed more than $1.9 million in ANCHOR benefits. State officials say the payments range from $450 to $1,500 for qualified residents, with those over the age of 65 receiving an additional $250. More than 1.4 million applications were filed automatically and another 500,000 new applications were submitted.
