Lt. Governor Tahesha Way says 135,075 people cast early votes over the weekend before the upcoming election on Nov. 5.
That's more than the entire early voting period in 2023.
Voters returned to the polls on Monday. In Edison, voters were lined up ready for the doors to open at 10 a.m. People were also in Piscataway where they filled the John F. Kennedy Library. Voters told News 12 they wanted to beat the Election Day lines.
"I was here Saturday and Sunday – it was long lines so I figured let me get here now, be easier than waiting until the actual voting day," said Albert Forestiere.
"I'm not surprised that there's a line at all, I actually expected it. I thought the line would be a bit longer actually. I think people are eager to get their votes in," said Nicholas Kile.
Tuesday is the last day to apply for a mail-in ballot. Anyone interested should contact their county clerk.
