Jersey Proud: Oct. 1 marks Richard Stockton’s 294th birthday

Richard Stockton was the namesake of the university in South Jersey and a former U.S. senator.

At the US Capitol in Washington - every state has two people represented in Statuary Hall. Who are the two New Jerseyans? Philip Kearny and Richard Stockton.

Stockton was the namesake of the university in South Jersey and a former U.S. senator.

Stockton’s statue is in the crypt of the Capitol. Oct. 1 is his birthday, born in 1730 in Princeton.

Stockton is also famous because he's one of the forefathers who signed the Declaration of Independence.
