Cases of the omicron variant are in the U.S., and the entire country is on high alert - including in New Jersey.
Gov. Kathy Hochul on Thursday night announced five omicron cases in New York.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is stepping up screening efforts at airports, including Newark, hoping to prevent the variant from spreading.

The White House is considering more restrictions on international travel which will include testing requirements, providing a negative COVID-19 test within 24 hours of departure regardless of vaccination status.   
Vaccinated travelers have up to three days prior to travel to show a negative COVID-19 test.
