A 14-year-old boy was fatally shot just a mile away from his home Friday in Borough Park, according to police.

Authorities say Johary Cantave, of Brooklyn, was shot in his head before midnight around the intersection of 46 Street and 9th Avenue.

Sources confirm Cantave was in the passenger seat of a car when he was shot.

Police are looking for three males wearing ski masks.

No arrests have been made as of Saturday morning.

Councilwoman Alexa Avilés provided News 12 with the following statement:

"I'm deeply saddened to learn of the death of a Borough Park resident, who was only 14 years old. While we wait to hear more details of this shooting, my office is coordinating with the 66th Precinct to get updates. I want to offer my deepest condolences to his family and community, and my sincere gratitude to the medical responders and Maimonides. The issue of gun violence touches so many in our community. In every case, it is truly devastating, but especially so when young lives are lost in shootings. If anyone needs support services at this time, I encourage them to reach out to my office for referrals."
