A seventh grader from Ossining is being credited for using the Heimlich maneuver to save the life of his dog.
It happened during a Mother's Day hike. Brady Cole and his little brother realized their almost 3-year-old mini Goldendoodle named Kyrie was having trouble breathing.
Brady remembered a lesson from health class about the Heimlich and sprang into action.
"What I did was found his ribs, found the bottom of them, went in the middle, made a fist-like thing...I went like this three times, and it sounded like he spit something up," he said.
He said Kyrie didn't sound like he was choking anymore after the maneuver.
Kyrie and family are doing great now.
Brady says he learned that it's important to pay attention in class because you just might learn things that you can use in life.
