Throgs Neck elementary school choir expands to entire school district

A Throgs Neck elementary school wants to empower their students through music by creating a new choir with fourth and fifth-graders from more than 20 schools in the district.
D. Travis Washington, director of three different choir programs at P.S. 72, runs a choir with over 100 students that sings at showcases around the Bronx and beyond.
He says he is not only teaching music, but character.
Principal Margarita Colon says she saw how empowered the students felt and pitched the idea to expand the choir.
Auditions for the District 8 choir will be held this weekend.
