Today’s ‘Road Trip: Close to Home’ visits Katonah.

The first stop is Muscoot Farm, and while the farm isn't open for visitors right now, a great hiking trail is. The trail stretches over seven miles, and it's a perfect way to be at one with nature. It feels like you're worlds away as you push through hayfields and plush forested lands. And if you’re patient enough, you just might spot some wildlife. "The trick is to be in the moment and enjoy what it is that's right there," says hiker Robert Tompkins. It's open every day of the week from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Remember to bring a mask and water.

There are plenty of good places to eat in downtown Katonah. While restaurants are still not open for in-house dining, plenty of great spots are open and ready for takeout.

And the cherry on top of any visit to Katonah is a stop at the famous King Kone for ice cream! "People have come from all over too, and they're like ‘oh we went for a ride and we were hoping that you would be open.’ It's really nice and I think people are just really looking for something to really do outside now that the weather’s nice," says Deb Hopkins, owner of King Kone.
