A seventh-grade English Rye teacher competed in the Jeopardy! Teachers Tournament on Monday.
Peter Gouveia says he took an online test last year and went to Boston to audition for the show in January.
He says out of 98,000 applicants, he was one of 15 educators selected for the tournament.
"It was a very surreal experience because this was always like a bucket list adventure, and I always said to myself that I wanted to someday be on Jeopardy!” says Gouveia.
The Westchester teacher tells News 12 he didn’t do as well as expected in the episode, but came in second place for the first game.
