Yonkers Mayor Spano says city making changes to flatten the curve as COVID-19 cases rise

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano says the city is making changes to flatten the curve with the number of cases rising every day.
Yonkers has the most coronavirus cases in the county, with more than 1,300 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
Police are out making sure residents are practicing social distancing.
During a Facebook Live Monday afternoon, News 12 learned that hospitals within the city are increasing the number of critical care workers and now have the equipment to split lifesaving ventilators for coronavirus patients if needed.
Spano also said that police are disbanding crowds but are stopping short of issuing tickets to violators.
Yonkers public schools is looking to enforce public social distancing at the district's fields, which are now being closed because of complaints of groups playing contact sports.
On the financial side of things, Mayor Spano says he worries about the city's budget, which he is expected to propose in a little over a week.
Yonkers Schools Superintendent Dr. Quezada says his district is allowing students to use a religious observance day for either Good Friday or Passover as the district will continue studies through what would have been spring break.

On Monday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo extended school closures until at least April 29.
