Sirens sounded from Suffolk fire stations in unison Sunday night to say thanks to health care workers on the front line.

The Selden Fire Department was just one of many stations in Suffolk that wanted to show its appreciation for doctors, nurses and other medical staff who are taking care of patients with COVID-19.

Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone says from now on, people will hear sirens from fire departments wail every night at 7 p.m. during the pandemic.

"They are on the front lines as well. And the fact they are saluting tonight and acknowledging the incredible work and sacrifices being made by our health care workers, I think is a wonderful thing," says Bellone.

The Dennison Building in Hauppauge will also be lit up to show support for health care workers.

Bellone says it will stay lit through the remainder of this crisis.
