Bellone: COVID-19 hospitalizations in Suffolk top 1,000 for first time; death toll at 84

Bellone: COVID-19 hospitalizations in Suffolk top 1,000 for first time; death toll at 84

County Executive Steve Bellone says the number of COVID-19 patients in hospitals has risen past 1,000 in Suffolk.
During his daily news conference, he said there are 8,746 cases in the county, with 1,141 of them coming in the past 24 hours. There are 84 deaths so far.
The county executive says that a survey conducted by the county showed that 7,000 workers either lost their jobs or suffered a loss of wages due to the health crisis. He urged small businesses to visit the Suffolk County Business Recovery Unit, which provides information about how to recover.
He also urged residents to visit the United Way of Long Island site to help families in need.
