A new drive-thru testing site has opened in Riverhead.

The testing site is to make it easier for those living on the East End of Long Island to get tested.

The closest place to do so, Stony Brook, is at least a half hour from the Riverhead location.

The drive-thru testing site is open to the public and located on Old Country Road, about two miles from where the expressway ends. It is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

ProHEALTH has another testing site in Jericho but that location is only for ProHEALTH patients. The Riverhead location is open to everyone but you do need an appointment to be tested and you do need to have symptoms.

It was announced late Monday that a new coronavirus testing device is going to be available soon to make the process easier. The test gives the results in 5 minutes.

The test will be distributed to doctor's offices, testing sites and hospitals over the coming weeks.

To make an appointment, call 516-874-0411.
