Rockland wedding venue fined $2,000 for holding catered event with over 100 people

Rockland County is showing it is serious about not allowing large gatherings after health inspectors broke up a big event in Spring Valley.

Ateres Chaya Surah, a wedding venue on South Madison Avenue, now faces a $2,000 fine.

Health officials say they held a catered event with over 100 people.

Rockland County officials say any gathering of more than 50 people or a catered event is considered a public health nuisance.
