The Westchester County Health Department is offering free preventive treatment following a Hepatitis A scare.
Health officials say an employee working a private event at the Factoria in Peekskill was infected.
Therefore, anyone who was at the event space on Feb. 15 may have been exposed.  The warning also extends to those who dined at "Fin and Brew" on Feb. 16 or 19.
The restaurant shares an ice machine with the Factoria.
Health officials say Hepatitis A is transmitted by consuming food or drinks that have been touched by an infected person. Preventative treatment is only effective within two weeks of exposure. "After 14 days, the vaccine would not be effective at preventing infection from that exposure. It doesn’t mean that you will sick, because you could have eaten there and not been exposed. We ask everyone who was there to come to receive vaccine because we err on the side of caution," says Dr. Marissa Montecalvo, from the Westchester County Health Department.
Dozens have already signed up for treatment which is being offered today, Wednesday and Thursday at the County Health Clinic in White Plains.
Although walk-ins are welcome, pre-registration is recommended.
