Changes may be coming to bail reform law

Posted: Updated:

Changes are in the works for the state's controversial bail reform law.

Bail reform has come under fire after several suspects were released, only to be charged with new, serious crimes.

The changes would include hate and sex crimes and domestic violence charges.

In addition, all felonies and any crime involving a death would mean the suspect could be kept in jail or tracked with a monitoring device.

Cash bail would be completely eliminated.

It's not clear how quickly state lawmakers might act on the changes and the governor would also have to sign off on the changes.
