Suspect in Haverstraw funeral home shooting was New City firefighter

Posted: Updated:

News 12 is learning more about the three people involved in a fatal shooting outside a funeral home in Haverstraw.

Jerry O'Sullivan allegedly shot and killed the home's manager, Noe Hamer, just hours after O'Sullivan was fired from working at TJ McGowan's Funeral Home late last week.

O'Sullivan was then allegedly shot and wounded by Chris Delisio, a part-time repairman at the home who heard gunfire from inside the funeral home.

Haverstraw Mayor Michael Kohut told News 12 Monday O'Sullivan was a New City firefighter who also worked as a DJ in the area.

Chris Delisio is also a firefighter in Haverstraw.

Jerry O'Sullivan is expected to appear at Haverstraw Village Court this Wednesday to face second-degree murder charges.

Hamer's wake will take place Thursday and Friday in Garnerville followed by his funeral Saturday at St. Peter and St. Mary's Church in Haverstraw. Kohut described Hamer as someone who “always cared for the people in the community and the people he was serving.”
