Ramapo police: Man behind religious school burglaries arrested

Posted: Updated:

A homeless man is behind several religious school burglaries, Ramapo police say.

The 34-year-old was arrested Friday after officers responded to a religious school in New Hempstead. He is now facing multiple charges and is due back in court next week.

Authorities say that the same suspect was first arrested Jan.10 and released the same day due to the new bail reform laws. Upon release, the suspect allegedly continued to burglarize other religious schools throughout the town, as well as in Clarkstown and Brooklyn.
