Officials: Haverstraw funeral home general manager fatally shot by ex-employeePosted: Updated:
A dispute between two employees at a funeral home in Rockland ended with one man dead, right outside the funeral home where he worked.
Haverstraw Mayor Michael Kohut told News 12 that Noe Hamer, the general manager of T.J. McGowen Sons Funeral Home, was shot and killed Thursday night by a former employee named Jerry O'Sullivan.
Police say O'Sullivan shot Hamer multiple times before a civilian, Christian Delisio, stopped O'Sullivan by shooting him in the shoulder.
O'Sullivan was taken into police custody and is now at Westchester Medical Center. Authorities used a Taser on O'Sullivan while trying to get him to drop his gun.
News 12 was told O’Sullivan was fired hours prior to the incident.
Officials say this was a targeted workplace violence crime and that no one nearby is in danger.
The funeral home was closed Friday.
