Yonkers man found guilty of second-degree murder in teen’s death

Posted: Updated:

A jury has found a Yonkers man guilty of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder.

Prosecutors say Joel Thompson, 25, got into a fight on Nepperhan Avenue in Dec. 2017.

They say Thompson then intentionally drove his car on the sidewalk and ran into 16-year-old Madysen Denman, pinning her to a wall and killing her. He also attempted to kill two others in the group with his car, Omar Ramos and Monty Anthony. Neither were injured.

Thompson is facing up to 25 years to life. He will be sentenced in February.
