Yonkers break-in suspect remains on loose

Posted: Updated:

Residents in Yonkers are on edge as a suspect who tried breaking in to a home remains on the loose.

Police have released a surveillance photo of the suspect. They say the man, dressed in green, was caught on camera sliding a screen door open at a home on Hancock Avenue the day after Christmas.

The man who lives below that home tells News 12 the incident happened around 11:45 p.m. "My neighbors called me to go upstairs and check; when I did I came back down and they called me saying someone was on the deck trying to break in."

Officials say the man fled empty handed.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect is urged to contact Yonkers police at 914-377-7900.
